About Neighbourly: what it is, who it's for, and where it operates
What Neighbourly is, who can use it, and where it operates
This article explains what Neighbourly is, who can use it, whether it's a charity, whether it's free, and where it operates.
What is Neighbourly?
Neighbourly is an award-winning giving platform that helps businesses make a positive impact in their communities by delivering employee volunteering, financial donation, and surplus product redistribution programmes. It is free for charities and community organisations to use. For more information visit neighbourly.com.
Who is Neighbourly for?
Neighbourly is for three groups:
- Charities and community organisations — registered charities, CICs, non-profit community groups, schools and similar social-purpose organisations that want to receive support from businesses.
- Businesses — companies that want to support good causes by donating funds, employee volunteer time, or surplus products.
- Employees — staff of businesses running programmes through Neighbourly.
Is Neighbourly a charity?
No. Neighbourly is a B Corp — a for-profit company with a social mission. This structure allows Neighbourly to scale sustainably and keep the platform free for charities and community organisations.
Is Neighbourly free?
Neighbourly is free for charities, community organisations, and individuals. Businesses require a paid licence, which means donations from a company go to the charity in full. When a member of the public donates to a charity, a 5% transaction fee applies to cover payment provider costs (Gift Aid declarations are exempt).
Where does Neighbourly operate?
Neighbourly operates in the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, and Guernsey.
