Making a donation as a member of the public
How to donate to a charity on Neighbourly, what information is needed, and whether you can donate anonymously
This article explains how to make a donation to a charity on Neighbourly as a member of the public.
What information do I need to make a donation?
You will need your name, email address, and credit or debit card details. If you are including a Gift Aid declaration, you will also need your postal address. You must confirm you are aged 16 or above.
How will my payment be handled?
All donations are processed securely by Stripe, Neighbourly's payment provider. Once approved, Stripe arranges the transfer of funds to the chosen charity. Neighbourly does not store your card details.
Are there any fees on my donation?
A 5% transaction fee is charged on every donation to cover payment provider costs. This is deducted automatically. If you include a Gift Aid declaration, that portion is exempt from the fee.
Can I include Gift Aid?
Yes — if you are a UK taxpayer and eligible, you may be offered the option to include a Gift Aid declaration on your donation.
Can my donation be made anonymously?
Yes. You can choose not to display your name alongside the donation on the website. Your details will still be shared privately with the charity for reporting and Gift Aid purposes.
Can I cancel my donation?
You can cancel your donation within 48 hours of making the payment by contacting Neighbourly. After this time, you will need to contact the charity directly to request a refund, which is at the charity's discretion.
