Missing a surplus food collection: what to do if you cannot collect

What to do when you cannot make a scheduled surplus collection — for charities and individual Surplus Saviours

This article explains what to do if you cannot make a scheduled surplus food collection. Act as quickly as possible — stores need to be notified promptly.

I am a charity — what do I do if I cannot collect?

Respond to the collection notification immediately. Go to your Collections dashboard at neighbourly.com/myinkind/goodcause/archive, click the arrow on the relevant collection, then click 'I can't collect / I didn't go' and give your reason. Neighbourly will notify the store.

Consistent missed collections may affect your future schedule eligibility.

If you need to pause collections for a period (e.g. holidays or closure), add a collection break at neighbourly.com/mycollectionschedule instead of missing individual collections.

I am a Surplus Saviour individual — what do I do if I cannot collect?

Respond to your collection notification as soon as possible to reject the donation. You can do this via the link in the notification or through your collections dashboard. As with charities, consistent missed collections may affect your future eligibility for collection slots.

Can I swap my collection with another organisation?

No — swapping collections or collection slots with another organisation is not permitted.
