Volunteering: managing volunteers and events as a charity

How to create recurring events, manage signups, verify activity and thank volunteers

This article explains how to manage volunteering events and volunteers on Neighbourly.

How do I create multiple or regular volunteer events?

Use the 'Clone opportunity' tool to duplicate an existing listing. Go to your volunteering dashboard > find the event > click the 'Clone' button at the bottom of the card. Update the relevant details such as the date for each occurrence.

Can I create an event without an exact date?

Yes. You can create an event with a flexible date, allowing volunteers to express interest before a specific date is confirmed. Once volunteers sign up, contact them to agree on a final date and update the event.

How do I manage volunteers signing up?

Neighbourly automatically generates an attendee list for each opportunity. You can download this list including contact details from the event page. If you have enabled volunteer approval, you will receive an email notification when people sign up and can manually approve them. You can also message volunteers individually through the platform.

To manage your volunteer list: go to your volunteering dashboard > find the event > click 'Manage volunteers'.

Why am I receiving emails to verify volunteer activity?

You'll receive these if a volunteer has logged time spent volunteering with your organisation outside of a Neighbourly event. Verification ensures volunteering data is accurate for both your organisation's and the supporting company's impact reporting.

Can I thank volunteers after the event?

Neighbourly automatically sends a thank-you email to everyone who signed up. You can also download the full attendee list with contact details from the event page.

To download: go to your volunteering dashboard > find the event > click 'Manage volunteers' > click 'Download full list' to get a CSV of all volunteers and their contact information.
