Volunteering: posting opportunities as a charity

How charities can post volunteering needs and events to attract volunteers

This article explains how to post volunteering opportunities on Neighbourly as a charity or good cause.

What types of opportunities can I post?

There are two ways to attract volunteers:

  • Create a need — A permanent listing (unless you set an end date) that advertises what you need help with without a specific date or time. Volunteers can express interest and you can then create an event based on their availability.
  • Create an event — A concrete opportunity with a confirmed date, location, and time. Use this when you know exactly what you need and when.

To create either, go to your volunteering dashboard at neighbourly.com/mycausevolunteering > click 'Get volunteers' > select a need or event.

How does a volunteering need work?

When you create a need, it is published on your page and may appear on company campaign pages. Volunteers can offer to help and submit their availability. You receive a daily digest email with interested volunteers, then create a specific event and invite them to sign up.

Can I get volunteers from companies?

Yes. When companies launch volunteering campaigns in your area, your organisation may be invited to take part. Keep an eye out for notifications when company volunteers register interest.

How do I get started with volunteering as a new charity?

Go to your volunteering dashboard at neighbourly.com/mycausevolunteering and click 'Get volunteers' in the header to choose between creating a need or an event.
