Principle
The Neighbourly Mark is a verified participation signal, conferred on businesses with an active record of community investment and impact tracked on the Neighbourly platform. It is awarded on the basis of verified activity - and withdrawn when that activity lapses.
The Mark is not suspended, withdrawn or withheld on the basis of external events affecting a partner business - including but not limited to: reputational incidents, media coverage, boycotts, regulatory investigations, or changes in public sentiment.
Rationale
The Mark's credibility is built upon the integrity of its evidence base alone. A business that has logged verified surplus redistribution, volunteering hours, grants or financial donations has a social impact record that exists independently of whatever else may be happening in or around the business at any given time.
Scope
This policy applies to all current and prospective Neighbourly Mark holders. Any business that ceases verified platform activity will be subject to the standard governance process, regardless of the reason for that lapse.
Boundary condition
In the event that a partner's conduct causes direct, material harm to the communities the Mark is designed to serve - and this is confirmed by a relevant authority - Neighbourly reserves the right to review the partner's continued association with the Mark on a case-by-case basis. This is a discretionary power, held in reserve, and not part of the standard governance process.
